Morete Stone Hand
History behind the hand
The 1st. December 1948 commemorates the Abolition of the Army in Costa Rica, the truth is that it is more than anything a symbolic date.
The historian highlighted the importance of remembering this date in Costa Rica, given that it has been a country that made a decision that few countries have made: “it is also essential to remember that decisions as important as the abolition of the Army are not made in stone and that history can change.
Continuing to build a civil and democratic society does not depend only on the absence of an army. Costa Ricans must not forget that in the past great decisions were made for the well-being of the country, and that it is up to current generations to be protagonists in the construction of present and future history, based on a balance between the historical heritage and the current challenges and one of those fundamental legacies is the Abolition of the Army”.
Abolish all the country’s armed forces to allocate economic resources to improve the country’s social and economic development.
That is why Don Morete decided to create the hand that symbolizes that despite the years of hard work of the Costa Rican people we keep history written in stone.
"The best ATV tour in Costa Rica! The trails were a perfect mix of adventure and beauty. The guides were excellent, and we felt taken care of throughout the entire tour. Can’t wait to come back and do it all over again!"
